Steve Spurling, C(k)P
As Director of Business Development at Champion Capital Research, Steve is responsible for the firm’s outreach efforts with retirement plan sponsors, high net worth investors, advisors, CPAs, consultants and ERISA attorneys. With over thirty years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr. Spurling is a passionate advocate of helping trustees and fiduciaries implement and maintain proper fiduciary processes. He has held a variety of sales and sales management positions with industry leaders such as Principal, MassMutual, Columbia Threadneedle Management, and Kemper Funds. His broad industry experience allows Steve to truly help retirement plan and high net worth investors make the right decisions for the right reasons.
Although his financial services experience is very diverse, Steve has primarily focused on corporate retirement plan services. Because of his retirement plan experience he provides keen insight on how retirement plans are sold and marketed to companies and has helped many plan sponsors cut through the sales pitch and recognize what is truly important; helping employees provide income in retirement.
In addition to his extensive charity involvement, Steve served as President of the Board of Education in St Charles, IL which gives him a unique perspective when working with Boards and fiduciaries. In his spare time, he likes to golf, hunt, fish, and collect antique books. Maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity are important to Steve. In 2017 he was the recipient of the Carnegie Hero Medal when he saved a woman’s life during a shooting incident.
